The “Augsburg Fairy Tale Lane”

Pettson and Findus have visitors at Christmas

The day before Christmas Eve, Pettson and his cat Findus go to the forest as they do every year to get their Christmas tree. On the way, Pettson sprains his ankle so badly, that he can’t stand on his foot – and nothing is prepared for Christmas! At home, they have no dried fish, no meatballs and no gingerbread – only a few potatoes and shriveled carrots. Findus thinks what a sad Christmas this will be! But when the neighbors hear about the misfortune, they fill their baskets with the most delicious things and set out to visit Pettson and Findus. In the end, this Christmas turns out to be the most beautiful and happiest the two have ever celebrated.

The story written by Sven Nordqvist, Swedish author of children’s books, is presented in decorated shop windows of downtown Augsburg.

Again in 2019 children can take part in a quiz about the “Augsburg Fairy Tale Lane” and win attractive prizes. Entry forms are available at Tourist Information of Regio Augsburg Tourism at city hall square and at the “Himmlisches Postamt,” the “post office” located in the Christmas market.
