The Augsburg Fairy Tale Street
During Advent, the Augsburg Fairy Tale Street will display “The Nutcracker,” a ballet fairy tale based on the story by E. T. A. Hoffmann and set to the music of Peter I. Tchaikovsky. For Christmas, Clara and her brother receive a nutcracker from their godfather Drosselmeyer. In truth, the wooden nutcracker is a young prince upon whom a spell has been cast by the evil witch and mother of the Mouse King, Madam Mouserinks.
The nutcracker defeats the Mouse King and Clara develops a fondness for the wooden figure which breaks the spell and transforms the nutcracker into a prince again. The journey in the land of sweets can begin.
The Augsburg fairytale street is presented in the shop windows of various stores throughout the Augsburg city center.
