Heavenly Post Office, Manger Scene, Domsingknaben (Boys' Choir), ...

The Augsburg “Christkindlesmarkt” is known as one of Germany’s favorite Christmas markets today boasting around one million visitors each year. It’s no wonder when you consider the specialties of the Augsburg “Christkindlesmarkt,” including not only the angel performance but also an extensive program throughout the entire event.

Unfortunately, the usual musical attractions cannot take place this year due to the renovation work in the town hall.

Manger Scene with original Figures of famous Wood Carvers of Oberammergau

Located just under the Christmas Tree is the nativity scene sponsored by the Alt Augsburg Gesellschaft. The large wooden figures were once carved in Oberammergau and they are still a highlight to visit at the Augsburg Christmas market.

“Heavenly Post Office”

Next to the manger scene at the Christmas market there is another attraction: There is the “heavenly post office,” the “Himmlisches Postamt”. Directly under the huge Christmas tree children (and adults) will find the heavenly post office in Augsburg. Mail sent from here is delivered to the recipient with a postmark from the village Christkindl (Christ child) in Austria. The heavenly post office in Augsburg is open
